Birthdays

It is official we now have a 6 and 3 year old. There was much anticipation for birthdays, mostly by Jackson. Jackson was waking up early and not going to sleep at night with birthday butterflies in his stomach. Now that birthday celebrations have come to an end, he even has a bit of "post birthday depression". I am sure that it doesn't help when we are celebrating little brothers birthday only three days after his.
Morgan is still is figuring out the concept of the day being his. Morgan was wishing everyone happy birthday. We kept saying "happy birthday, Morgan" and he would answer "happy birthday, Mom (or Dad)."
We surprised the boys with a trip to Great Wolf Lodge. Jackson thought he was going to school last Wednesday, but we just kept driving. They were both thrilled when they figured it out.

We stayed two nights. Which was plenty! By the last day the boys were begging just to sit in the hot tub. Jackson is much more adventurous in the water and was ready to try any slide, but especially love the wave pool. We discovered on this trip that, becoming six must increase your appetite. Kids menu's just weren't cutting it anymore for this growing boy!

Morgan much to our surprise was very timid and very much disliked the wave pool. His favorite part was the jet skis though! Uncle Jim had quite the impact on him, when he saw him riding his jet ski, in the ocean. Now it is all he talks about. We think the reason Morgan was much more timid, was because of all the people and the noise, as he tends to be a little shy around strangers (not complaining here).

After getting back from our trip, we celebrated with family out at MaMo and Grandpa's house. It was a fiesta style gathering, complete with Star Wars Lego cake for Jack and Cars cake for Morgan.

One would think the celebrating might be over, but no. The day after the birthday fiesta was Morgan's actual birthday, so we celebrated Red Robin style.

And then again and Jack's school with his classmates.

It has been a birthday whirlwind! Each year that passes it always seems crazy how fast it has gone.
Jackson turning six, seems like such a milestone! It is amazing to see him grow into such a caring, responsible, handsome young man. He loves science and is interested in the facts about everything, from earthquakes to how different foods help our body. Jackson is a Star Wars super fan and loves creating new ships with legos. He will be in 1st grade next year and entering a new school. I feel lucky to be his Mom and although I tell him I am going to freeze him at 6, I also look forward to seeing him continue on his growing up journey!
Morgan turning three is also hard to imagine in a different sense. He will be starting pre-school three days a week in the fall and that seems hard to grasp. It seems like yesterday, he was in the front pack while I took Jackson to school. Morgan loves his brother and wants to be just like him. He often gets frustrated trying to keep up! It seems like he grew up a lot faster because of this. I even think that is why he came out 4 weeks early, he heard his brother and couldn't wait to meet him. Morgan loves riding his motorcycle (bike). If you try to call it a bike, he quickly corrects you that it is a motorcycle. He is my daredevil, constantly climbing or power wheel surfing in the back yard. Morgan has a high pain tolerance, so when he is crying, you know something is wrong. I love his snuggles and that he constantly keeps me on my toes. He loves doing dishes, and will spend hours at the kitchen sink playing in the water.

So helpful!

Morgan is still using his small toilet to go to the bathroom, since he isn't quite tall enough to reach the big toilet. He try's to be very helpful, by dumping his toilet into the big toilet when he is done (which usually means more pee on the toilet then in). Well today I went to check on him and he says "Mom, did you know my potty floats in this one. Aren't I helpful."

I smile and say "yes, very helpful" :)

Lego Creator

Love this kid. He is such an inventor and engineer. Give him a Lego set with directions and he throw them to the wind, so he can come up with something better. Today at school pick-up he ran out the door and we had to rush home so he could create something that was in his head before he forgot the idea!

Happy 2013

Jackson and Doug celebrated the new year at the winter hawks game and by the looks of it, Jackson had a pretty good time.
